Description

Pickering's Triangle is a section of the Veil Nebula - a supernova remnant located some 1,500 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus.  The object was first observed on photographic plates by Williamina Fleming of the Harvard Observatory.  The object was named after the director of the observatory Edward Charles Pickering (1846-1919).

Pickering's Triangle was photographed between 24 and 31  August 2022.  Capture details are as follows:

Telescope: TEC140
Camera: QHY 268M
Filters: Chroma
Mount: 10 Micron GM2000HPS

Ha: 50 x 600s
OIII: 50 x 600s
Red: 40 x 180s
Green: 40 x 180s
Blue: 40 x 180s

A total of 22 hours and 40 minutes exposure.
